Yes the whole city was awash with red & white. As for speaking kindly about the Polish; it would be very hard for me to think of negative things to say about such great people.

It may be hard to recognize it, but it is a black and white silhouette of
this image.
There used to be 5000-zloty banknote with this portrait.

Hope you can now recognize it. ;-)
