Melinda French Gates observes as a community health worker administers vaccines to infants during a local village health and nutrition day. One of the biggest obstacles to vaccinating rural populations is the lack of accessibility and breaks in the delivery system. The foundation is working with partners to reach more populations isolated by geography and culture and develop new technologies that will make vaccines easier to store, safer to deliver, and less expensive.
