Home Guard guiding traffic with the Mumbai Police

    Newer Older

On the 11th of July 2006 - at around 6.30 p.m. - when people were just about retrurning home from work - 7 bombs went off in Mumbai on local trains. Phone lines got jammed with people calling their loved ones. Most began moving back towards home. -as though guided by a sub concious homing instinct.

in the aftermath of the blasts, the trains stopped running. Traffic moved on to the roads. Buses were jam packed as were roads.
The traffic police has been out since full strength since last weeks rains - once again did a commendable job. Not just controlling the flow of vehicular traffic but human traffic. Not just with efficiency but also with compassion and kindness. Here is a member of the home guard - out last night to help with activities

And this is the 9th day in a row that they are on their feet managing the city.
    Hats off to them.
