The lights from my car illuminate the path ahead on a road that weaves through public lands but which is deliberately hidden from the public. Any casual driver on the northern end of pacific coast highway would miss it. At mile marker 90.88 a crudely assembled sign points to a narrow unpaved path off the road simply stating no RVs or wide vehicles. But it is one of the few entrances into the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park, colloquially known as 'the Lost Coast' for its ruggedness and for the fact that it is an 80 mile stretch of foggy California forest and coast with no highway access and thus largely forgotten about.
