New bike lane!

Riding to work yesterday morning I noticed the overnight appearance of a new bike lane on Queen Street West. I thought I better take some photos of it before it would be cleaned up. (Of course, it was done by guerrilla movement) So when I finished with the shots, I looked back and there was a police car standing right behind me. The officer called me up and asked me what I knew about this. I said nothing. Then he asked why I was taking photos and then I got a little lecture that how stupid and dangerous this is. I listened, smiled and wished him a nice day and continued my way to work. Then I realized I was on my spray painted bike. . . .

I like the penny-farthing stencil they used. Much prettier than the weird stunted bike that the city paints.

Wow! What a coincidence; I get stopped by the police yesterday too when I was taking a shot of a street name plate, called "cinderella"; of course nothing happened but they were doing questions about what I was doing. Here is different I cannot imagine this at US, maybe they accused me of picturing the whole city for a new strange menace; they were doing their job and they notice me inside my pick up with the big telephoto lenses aiming to a corner, not usual on a poverty area with high rates of crime.

Well, they lecture me to just take care with the people. Anyways.

I like this stencil for the 'unofficial' bike lane better than the 'approved' stencil.. must have been a slow day for that officer to have decided to spend his time checking you out on a stencil.

Unfortunately these types of police responses and enquiries only heighten the public's impression of police spending time on low level issues while significant public issues are "put on hold"
