Lively Eyes on a Lifeless Corpse

Death is rarely this cute. I killed this mouse for Motli, my black rat snake. She ate her, but I took some pictures of the corpse before I fed it to her. The whiskers are dusty cause I threw the mouse at the floor. It kills them quickly. Snakes have to eat too ya know.

Jade....emerald swift? I have yet to see this video! I did feed a pinky to a baby alligator once. We played tug-o-war with it and he ripped it in half.

I understand that you have a rat and everything, and how it needs to eat and that's what it would eat in the wild.
But I would never ever kill an animal, not even a mouse considering I love mice and used to have a few. ^.^
Usually pictures like this piss me off to the point to where I have to vent, but this doesn't bother me at all. But RIP mouse. (:

I used to keep mice too. If you like mice you would love rats. They make amazingly affectionate pets. They're like miniature dogs! You can even teach them the same tricks :) For years I always had at least two rats and some mice (and not for breeding or snake food either),

But I also like snakes, and realize that snakes have to eat too, as you mentioned. I always kill my mice and rats as quickly as possible. As violent as it sounds, hitting the floor at that speed does kill them instantly. They're dead before they know what happened, and don't have to linger in pain or be suffocated by the snake. And at the other end of the spectrum, it protects the snake from being bitten by a struggling rodent also. The trick is to know it needs to be done for the snake to live, and to dispatch the mouse or rat quickly before you get too attached.

I often feel bad for the snakes because many people think it's "sick" or "wrong" or just view the snakes in disdain all because they just happen to be designed to eat rodents. If you take a photo of your mouse eating it's cute, but if you take a photo of your snake eating you suddenly become some horrible person :\ This photo is kind of to show that just because snakes aren't fuzzy, that doesn't mean they should be looked at or treated any differently than the cute and cuddly stuff. You can appreciate both for what they are :)
