This is... wow. Amazing. The framing,
cropping, negative space, shades of gray...
once again, you've taken everything possible
from things around you and captured it into
one perfect shot.

I just have to say... I was there when he
took this. :-)
Ty: I figured out my problem. I had to
download an update for Photoshop to be able
to read the RAW files from my Rebel XT. Let
the games begin.

Whoa! Breathtaking image. That's one fucked
up manequin. Looks like she had a bike
accident and a long winter. I'd be
interested to hear more about your RAW
workflow. I'm trying to figure out if I
really want to shoot in RAW.

You guys could avoid all this grief if you
just loaded PS on a decent PC of a generation
back.
They're about the same as a Mac.
Love the shot, Ty.

LoL Ya'all crack me up... I feel like I'm
reading spanish but only speak english here.
Anyway Ty, just wanted to say the photo is
pretty cool, no idea if its a real object you
took a picture of, or if it was something
like this and then you did something else to
it. Cause ya'know... I'm clueless bout that
stuff. BUT - it's still a really neat
photograph to look at.

@nc wench thanks much. its a very real mannequin that
my friend chris and i ran across at the flea market this
afternoon. the only modifications i made were
in the RAW tools to reduce the exposure, bump
the shadows, and desaturate it a bit.
everything else is as was, for what thats
worth.

Someone was selling that thing? I sure hope
you bought it and have it sitting in your
bedroom!
There is a convo going on in the D70 group
about RAW workflow. Are you using Nikon
Capture at all? I honestly haven't even
touched it.

@season: no Nikon Capture, just dragging straight in
PS and working from there. i didnt buy it. i
have too many curios and oddities in my house
as it is. the worst is the roll of 1000 red
biohazard disposal bags sitting in my closet
waiting for inspiration to strike. the best
is the collection of 1800+ photographs from
estate sales around the country - its a cool
timeline of the generations of five families
throughout their lives. i'll tell ya where
its at at the flea market if you want to pick
it up.

*keeping my fingers crossed that I will have
decent tools (a D50 or D70) that will shoot
to RAW soon.*
Just out of curiosity, how long does it
take to write the RAW shots to the card? Is
there a big lag before you can shoot the next
picture?
How big are the resulting files?

superb job capturing this wonderful find. I
think it is always disturbing to see these
so-called perfect representations of people,
damaged and in decay... it's always too close
to home, and scary. It's like seeing dead
people still trying to do their sales job
like some zombie. Very thoughtfully lit, too.

Sappho Fragment 58
Age seizes my skin and turns my hair
From black to white:
My knees no longer bear me
And I am unable to dance again
Like a fawn.
What could I do? I am not ageless:
My youth is gone.
Red-robed Dawn, immortal goddess,
Carried [ Tithonus ] to earth's end
Yet age siezed him
Despite the gift from his immortal lover
....
I love delicate softness:
For me, love has brought the brightness
And the beauty of the sun ....
