DSC08370adj2-rs A Bike in the Dark, NYC

Just outside Grand Central Terminal on Vanderbilt Ave at night, this bike sat bathed in the alternating red/yellow/green light of the traffic signal. It was wrapped in police tape that said "police line, do not cross." I think it wanted to be alone. Inspired by Helje :)

DSC06919adj-rs Hudson River at Esopus, Black Creek Preserve

Another view of the Hudson at the end of the trail at the Black Creek Preserve, taken this summer when the river was very still. Usually it does not look like a mirror and is quite affected by wind, tides and currents. Even this far north, 85 or 90 miles from NYC, the river still flows north away from the ocean twice a day with the tides. That is, it is still an estuary here.
