St Peters itself is built on top of a graveyard. One of the graves supposedly belongs to St Peter.

The inscription from the front of the Pantheon reads:

"It was built by Marcus Agrippa, son of Lucius, consul for the third time"

Pantheon Oculus

Pantheon Oculus

This 'eye' in the roof allows light (and rain!) into this windowless ancient building in the heart of Rome.

In fact, the Pantheon is the oldest surviving Roman building which is still in use and one of my favourites too!
