The Fairytale Cottages of Carmel-by-the Sea
After Hugh Comstock had built Hansel and Gretel to showcase his wife's doll collection, he built a home for himself and Mayotta . Built in 1925, they named the cottage "OBERS". The combination of Comstock adobe brick, Carmel stone and hand carved trim makes it truly a work of art. The recessed windows of the second story are unusual and add unique character.

So delightful. Each home has its own special, endearing feature. I love the window trim - and color - of this one.

Beautiful cottages. It's too bad that craftsmanship and imagination gave way to cookie-cutter suburbia.

Oh I adore this one. It looks so tiny: I'm afraid a BigBird like me wouldn't get through that door!

I fell in love with Carmel my first time visiting. I have been dying to go back every since. I didnt know all these cottages existed though but loved the town and 17mile drive. Thank you for capturing and sharing the beauty of this quaint little town.
