M.E./CFS Awareness : May 2009

M.E./CFS Awareness : May 2009 by `tea.
M.E./CFS Awareness : May 2009.

I don't like trying to "portray" my illness. Not terribly sure what to say about it in a blog post. However, come to think of it, Flickr has become my "blog". Easier to snap a photo than to write.

So here I am, sitting in the garden this evening, enjoying the sunshine.
I thank God (literally) that I have the strength to do this. And that I have a garden to sit in.

lovely garden and cosy socks! I also really value any day i can sit in my (not quite so lovely as your garden!) back yard and get some sunshine, a change of scenery, fresh air and birdsong - ahh! Little things can really make a big difference to quality of life, can't they?

Absolutely :) Reminds me of something that happened a few years ago ...

I was living in a city - in bedsitland - and suffered a few months off work with an M.E. relapse. It was springtime and the sun was shining. But northfacing windows meant my little flat was in the shade all day.

One afternoon I dragged myself slowly down the stairs, out the front door, and round to the sunny backyard. One problem: this backyard was being used as a dump for house clearances!! And, back then, I didn't have a stoolstick.

So for a serendipitous half-hour I sat on top of an old bedside cabinet, sureally surrounded by piles of old furniture and mementoes of other people's lives ... but still enjoying warm sunshine & fresh air under a blue spring sky. And the birds were singing too. :)

thank goodness for the birds!
I have a different stool stick, just a stick with flip-down top - not very steady (you kind of make a tripod with your legs) but passes easier as a "normal" walking stick... helps a bit in emergenies, but no replacement for a proper seat!
