Found this guy today in my garden (Austin, TX), where I'm growing beets, onions, stevia, eggplants, tomatoes, and hot peppers. I've included my trowel for scale.

Husks
Three years ago, the forests at McKinney Roughs were ravaged by a wildfire. The hulking husks that remain are beautiful and stark, on the elegant cusp between death and regrowth.

Unknown insect
Found this little guy in the bok choi from my CSA, grown in Seguin, TX (78155) and picked up in Austin, TX. The farm grows various leaf vegetables, root vegetables, herbs, aliums, gourds, and nightshades without pesticides.
Total body length is about 11mm.
