vintage interior, boss and secretary, 1934

Newer Older

A rather large photo with no writing on the back. From my grandmother's large collection of family photos. I'm unsure of who these people are. The calendar there says February, 1934. C.W.A = Civil Works Administration. VIew largest size to see the little things on his desk, like the baby picture.

Mr. Sable, pagecr, il Paolino, adria.richards, and 4 other people added this photo to their favorites.

A lot of fun roaming around in your new scan. Thanks for posting it. If you could just bring it up a little more we could read the shorthand on the secretary's paper.

otis - haha, I thought you were serious at first, and I actually looked to see if I could make out her writing.

Wow! This is great. As soon as I saw it, before I read anything, I knew it was a government office. It really has that basic, no-rills look to it.

But the scene is so real I can almost hear the old wooden chair creaking and the radiator hissing and clanging.

And the window dividers with the frosted panes ~ when was the last time you saw that??!!

In general, it looks like the office of the family doctor we used to go to when I was a little kid in the 1950's.

It's really a fine picture even if you don't know who they are. And who knows, maybe someone on Flicker will recognize them and let you know! : )
