Maggiet96, waechor, doug_r - thank you! I really wanted to remove the dirt particule on the left of the capsule to make it even more minimalist, but it actually gives a space referential as well as underligning the small dof.

Mr_Ku - thanx. I started handheld, then I had to use a tripod, the camera AF and the reflection of the sun made it impossible to correctly focus. Lots of work for this picture :)

adriana - i have a full jar of E, you can take some :)...vitamin E, of course....:P

bleu_celt - a tag I forgot to add. Thanx!

gari.baldi - yes I come back to minimalism, so much interesting to fill a space with almost nothing.

Cynthia Sapna - glad you like it.

catmadogma - [blushing] thank you very much for the nice comment. I come to think that the best pictures, without people of course, are just around you, in your own house. A bit of light and they appear fantastic, surreal.

short bread - there is no extra blurring, just the DOF from the macro lens. My sigma was almost wide open when shooting.

I don't quite like the shadow mask - It goes around the drop and then it forms another curve over the plot. The blending is slightly problematic, too. but most of all, it doesn't keep me interested.

neverb4breakfast / pizzo - yes I noticed that has well. But the sun was actually directly shining on the pill and creating this halo. The radial gradient just reinforce it, maybe a little too much, you are right. Thanx for stopping by!

FYI When putting your shot into DM never NEVER explain what you've done to a shot. They'll either find it or vote without knowing but once you tell them...it's all over.

Neverforbreakfast and pizzo tagged 'deleteme3', Hourman is right then.

solodad3000 - yeah, probably. Delete Me is supposed to be a group (mean, nice, partial non objective whatever) where people judge if they like the picture or not, based on their own perception. If they care about the technical aspect, well, too bad for me then. There are people with constructive opinions, jackasses, angry people, all the good and worst of flickr. Delete me is just an arena. Note there used to be a lot more a** than now. I am pretty happy with people opinions, more time spent on commenting or being constructive.

@FredArmitage

It just appeared to me while I read your answer to solodad3000:
Usually when somebody talks too much about technical details, that means that the pic is not interesting enough (from a subjective point of view). It is valid both about the author and the one who writes a comment. ;)

I like the cleanliness of this image. I think you missed an opportunity to put a "story-telling-device" on the window sill with the capsule so that the it would show up in the refraction.

neverb4breakfast - ha ha! true. I happen to have time tonite, the chicken is cooking in the oven so i am responding to comments. But you are right in a way. I try to answer to comments as much as I can by courtesy. Flickr is becoming so big that having comments start to be a luxury. and i am talking too much even now right? such a funny comment you made!

alphadesigner  Pro User  says:

No, I enjoy discussions below the photos. I do this on my own, too. I don't care about the amount of the comments, I care about what people say in them.

For my note before:

I meant the "I slightly darkened the picture with a radial gradient mask on photoshop..." part. I always feel the need to explain myself when I subconsciously feel that the image is not that persuading... you know. I am pretty sure that most of the time other people act the same. :)
Posted 42 months ago. ( permalink )

view profile

Frederic Poirot  Pro User  says:

Some people asked me how I did some effects so I just add little technical details. Not that my photoshop are extraordinary, far from there, but if it can help...Sometimes, I wish people would add a little more on how they process the picture. So much to learn.

But, in the end, I get to 'flickr-know' some interesting people and pictures like yours :)

drspam  Pro User  says:

i don't like how the shot disappears into nothingness. it's really hard to add or create information in ps without making it look "digital". in this case, what i mean is that there are all kinds of cool caustics and refractions and textures at the bottom, and then you wade through a mathematically perfect gradient into an area of solid color. that can't possibly look anything other than fake.

drspam has a point, nature is never perfect, there is some distortion that should be applied.

Frederic Poirot  Pro User  says:

drspam -I did not add information nor created the background. It is DOF + darkening, and the background 'disappeared' by itself in the process....mmmm....Damn! NeverB4Breakfast is right again :).

Ok I stop justifying the technical side.

I like it, haven't had time (or inclination) to read through the other comments. Once upon a time you'd get excoriated for PS in this pool. I don't think however it is 'phenomenal' in the sense that it leaves me with anything to chew on, but then again that hasn't always been the determining factor for a save with me. I don't know, maybe I'm just not in the 'saving mood' or perhaps I'm a little put-off by your avatar, or how many stinking comments I had to scroll past to get down here. In any case,
