Takaido Station - ticket machines

This is a photograph of the spot where Kimiko and Piro had their first encounter. Note that the original photo i drew this from was only a thumbnail from a website, and i had the general layout of the station wrong. This photo is from my japan trip in January 2004.

I always wondered about that, about how much of your art was based on having actually seen the places you draw, and how much is done from photos, and how much is done completely from imagination. I've read every comic, but I haven't explored your site much to find out if you answered that question anywhere else.
