new setup - Pochiyama

new setup - Pochiyama by fred_rin.
When Reki (my 5 year old G4 Power Mac) started to go (major issues with the main hard drive) Sarah had pity on me and said it was time to upgrade. If you look at what my old setup looked like, I was using two monitors (the 23" ACD and my 21" Cintiq). Rather than get an adapter for the ACD, i decided to simplify and go with a one monitor setup, just the cintiq. Since i do so much analog work (drawings) i actually need the space for reference sketches rather than another monitor full of distractions :P Note that none of this has bothered Momo in the slightest, as he sleeps curled up in his kitty bed.

One other addition you will see is the footrest, which has REALLY helped me get comfortable for longer periods of time. The fan is actually there to cool off the Cintiq. Sometimes, the surface can get kinda hot (esp. the lower right corner) and its nice to be able to turn a fan on it for a few min to cool it down.

You said the Cintiq was smaller than the Apple monitor you had, right? Do you think you are going to miss the screen space and the wide aspect ratio?

Does the Cintiq have any issues with the cat (clawed or de-clawed). I'm thinking if finances allow I would Like to get both.

Awesome fan, what company makes that, or even better what model is it? i've wanted one on my desk for so long to cool me and my monitor off but the last one i tried caused some major flickering issues.

Just wondering-is that a drafting table on the left of the computer table? i also like the idea of the small fan. I'm getting one later today. Gads, my tablet upped the temp in my small room 4-5 degrees! I also put a sheet of acetate over the drawing surface. Hope to avoid scratches.
Thanks for the pics and tips.

It's annoying. I got into the habit of putting my wacom pen standing like that and for some reason, it wears out the tip. (not the nib, the tip of the body)

I'm left living in fear.... coincidentally my G5 tower is called Reki... and it too is showing signs of its impending Day of Flight
nice setup though.. it's sooo clean (well as clean as any artists desk is ever going to be)
