Wind Farm, Tug Hill, NY

Wind Farm, Tug Hill, NY by Frazzled Jen.
Trying to show the magnitude of these windmills. There will be over 200 of
these windmills on Tug Hill when construction is done later this year.
Pretty impressive sight.

Wow, you've shown the magnitude all right:)
It's so big, it looks quite Incongruous in that rural setting.

It's scenes like these that remind me that I'm now living in the 21st century. It seemed so far away when I was a kid and now we're here.

Thanks finnigh and Mom. No I didn't know there was a contest. This one wouldn't win anyways. I like the one pitcherhill did of the storm clouds in the background.

I took lots of others while driving but the landscape was all crooked.

We are getting more of these in the Columbia River Gorge areas. They are big. Looking comical somehow in this photo.

nice photo. that is just east of our family farm (third generation). I knew all these farmers when I was growing up-now most of them are gone. Progress, I guess.

Strange. I've lived and flown in the area for years, but never seen these. There's a bee keepers house there that we used as a aerial check point. Im gonna have to find this when i return for my next visit. How would i get there from Tully (South of Syracuse)

Great shot - really shows how shockingly large and modern they are compared to their surroundings. I know I should hate them, but they are beautiful in a strange way. Even my 92 year old Grandpa who lives in Lyons Falls thinks they are interesting, and he's an avid Tug Hill outdoorsman. Have you ever seen the ships on the Seaway bringing the propellers down the river to be unloaded? You really get a sense for the incredible "wingspan" when you see they take up most of a shipdeck. I'd love to see more pictures of these!

Thanks again everyone. B.B. Leroy B...Tug Hill is north of Syracuse. If you travel on route 177 from I81 you will drive right by these.

Dreamer, I like them, too. I know there are those who really detest them but I'd much rather see wind mills and know we are doing something good for the environment than keep our pristine landscape here and pay for it with global warming.
