The street frontage of the Regent Street, Kingswood branch of
Woolworth's, seen on Sunday 14th July 1974. The restrained and
dignified gilt letters on a dark red ground are a late survival. The
lettering is correct and the ampersand and the particular form of the
"Co. Ltd." are an added pleasure. Soon the street would be
vulgarised by a garishly coloured plastic "fascia".
Note that the shop must originally have been made from the ground
floors of two houses, whose upper windows have been "sawn
off" to accommodate the shop sign.

Odd how such a commonplace thing has become of interest over the passage of time.

All things are interesting and have something to tell us. There is always something to understand.
