...That Leads To Your Door
Well, not a door as such here, more of a window, as the view from the top of Mount Teide is stunning on a clear day.
This is a view from the cable car station which is about 200m from the summit, looking South back towards the Atlantic Ocean (and roughly towards the municipal are of Arico). I used Photomatix with 3 images and then spent ages trying to get the contrast such that it's possible to see the landscape as much as the cloud formations, so the processing probably looks a bit heavy as a result. However I thought it nearer to what my eyes could pick out on the day. I could have spent ages up there just taking all this in, but we had to catch the coach back down about 30 minutes later, or wait several hours before the next bus!
If you ever go to Tenerife, the cable car trip is a must on a good day (or hiking up if that's your pleasure!). Despite the ticket price of €25 per person, it's well worth it in my opinion. Also keep in mind that should you want to venture to the very top of Mount Teide (an additional 163 metre hike), you'll need a special permit granted by the National Park Offices; only a couple hundred permits are granted each day.
