Boston as captured from 2003 — 2004 : A look back at some major/minor changes
This is a huge compilation I took the time to make from the outdated aerial photography on Microsoft's Live Maps. I was surprised to find that the Birds Eye view of downtown Boston still had the old I-93 highway still there. I decided to save all of these aerial photos as a kind of archive of what Boston used to be before Microsoft decides to update their Birds Eye view with more recent stuff.
So here, we see Boston before the completion of the Big Dig and many major/minor construction projects around the city. Not all of the photography lines up correctly since they took the photos on different passes, so perspective parallax problems were inevitable. I tried my best to make sense of it, though. The image is considerably large, so check out the Full Size here! flickr.com/photos/fox-orian/3109821929/sizes/o/ Commentsju66l3r says:Hi. Nice composite. I just wanted to point
out that the BU Photonics building was opened
in 1997. The picture that you labeled as the
Photonics building is actually the new Life
Sciences and Engineering Building (LSEB) on
Cummington St where the Nickelodeon theater
used to be.
