Green Jewel Beetles
Ladybugs in shape and size but emerald in color. Seen at Düzce near Istanbul.
They look like tansy beetles (Chrysolina graminis). The story from Wikipedia holds:
Chrysolina is a large genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Chrysomelinae. All species of Chrysolina are phytophagous, feeding on specific food plants, and some of them have been used for biological control of weeds. The tansy beetle (Chrysolina graminis) is a small green beetle with a metallic sheen. They get their name from the tansy plant from which they exclusively feed from and lay their eggs on in early spring. In Continental Europe, C. graminis is widespread from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean Sea. [Wikipedia]
