FORT BRAGG, N.C. (April 4, 2012) Gen. David M. Rodriguez, commander of U.S. Army Forces Command, congratulates Master Sgt. James K. Freeman on being awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received while serving with the 1st Infantry Division band in Iraq. The Purple Heart was established by the commander in chief of the Continental Army, Gen. George Washington, at Newburgh, N.Y., on Aug. 7, 1782.
