I bought a two year old ford vehicle recently
that had been driven on gravel roads. I was
surprised how much dirt there was in the
fuel-filler compartment. You would have to
have a good seal with the outside flap to
prevent the dirt getting in opening or there
would end up being dirt in the gas tank. (I
think some of the dirt came up through the
drain hole!) I think you may have an
unexpected problem here. Better check it out
now before you face problems down the road.
