Mount Hood and Winery

Mount Hood and Winery

This was taken from the edge of Rt 14 in Washington. Mount Hood is in the background. The winery in the foreground is Columbia Crest (I think).

The negative is excellent. Not much else to say about it.

Camera: Sinar Alpina 4x5.
Lens: 15" Wollensak Tele-Optar.
Film: Kodak Tri-X 320, shot at 250 asa, and developed in PMK Pyro.

Train and Squiggles

Train and Squiggles

I finally finished off the roll of Ilford XP2 that I had in my Argus C3. When I bought it in an antique shop in Bingen, Washington, everything seened to be working. Well, not so much. My guess is that the shutter is erratic. Most of the roll is unusable. I scanned a few of the more interesting disasters from the roll, and made them slightly more presentable. I post them as a eulogy for the camera. I will be placing it into the dead camera crypt in the closet in my darkroom. I also think I'm pretty much done with junky, old 35mm cameras. I'll be retiring a few others in the near future. I thought it would be neat to resurrect some old cameras and use them. The trouble has been that with junky cameras, I've gotten junky images. This is the same reason that I won't use Holgas. I'd rather use good cameras and alter the images in the darkroom to get the effects I was looking for. That way, I will at least get usable pictures.
