Old Town / Czech Republic, Prague by flydime

Old Town / Czech Republic, Prague

Old Town (Czech: Staré Město) is the original place of settlement of Prague, Czech Republic. It was separated from the outside by a semi-circular moat and wall, connected to the Vltava at both of its ends. The moat is now covered up by the streets (from north to south-west) Revolučni, na Příkopě, and Národni--which remain the official boundary of the cadastral district of Old Town. It is now in Praha 1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Town_(Prague).

Oysters / Spain, Barcelona by flydime

Oysters / Spain, Barcelona

The common name oyster is used for a number of different groups of bivalve mollusks, most of which live in marine habitats or brackish water. The shell consists of two usually highly calcified valves which surround a soft body. Gills filter plankton from the water, and strong adductor muscles are used to hold the shell closed.
Some types of oysters are highly prized as food, both raw and cooked. Other types, such as pearl oysters, are not commonly eaten (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oyster).

Roti Canai Maker / Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur by flydime

Roti Canai Maker / Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur

Roti canai (pronounced "chanai," not "kanai") is a type of flatbread found in Malaysia, often sold in Mamak stalls. It is known as roti prata in Southern Malaysia and Singapore, and is a close descendant[citation needed] of Kerala porotta.
The dish is composed of dough containing copious amounts of fat, egg, flour and water. The form of fat used is usually ghee (clarified butter). Some people add sweetened condensed milk to the mix. The entire mixture is kneaded thoroughly, flattened, oiled and folded repeatedly. It is then allowed to proof and rise, and the process is repeated. The final round of preparation consists of flattening the dough ball, coating it with oil and then cooking on a flat iron skillet with a lot of oil. The ideal roti is flat, fluffy on the inside but crispy and flaky on the outside (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roti_canai).
