(St.Werburghs Artists' Billboard, Bristol, December 2011)
My aim for last year was to switch things up with each piece I painted, to push myself and explore new techniques and ideas; so I decided to end the year by attempting something a bit different for me again. Painting stars 25 foot up a ladder in the dark, while the real ones were shining down overhead was a unique experience.
Since my local community is probably the most culturally and religiously-diverse in Bristol, it seemed appropriate that my piece mark the turning of the Solar Year in a universally inclusive way.
I love Werburghs, and the enthusiasm of the people that stopped to talk to me about the subject matter (during what was a bastard of a month to paint) kept me going, and my heart warm, even if nothing else was!
