Sea Glass Stack

    Explore #269 thanks everyone :))

Update: Hello to anyone looking in from Pinterest - sorry to disappoint you but my photo has been linked wrong - this is not where you find out how to make it, this is REAL seaglass I found myself as I am lucky to live near a beach where it washed ashore. If you wish to make it - look elsewhere, as I don't have the instructions all I can imagine as it is very labour intensive to do it. Thanks for liking my picture though :-) lisaluvz

did you add water and sand or just sand to make the sea glass? and does it take forever?

    5. lisaluvz 21 months ago | reply

I found it on the beach...I had no idea you could make it?

This picture was on pinterest saying you could make it. Someone is misinformed i guess. Now I'm all sad because I wanted to make some. /=

Hi yeah I know i've seen it knocking around there...I've never tried making it myself but apparently you need a rotary rock tumbler! Look it up on google ;)

I found this site that tells you how to make your own....http://www.beadinpath.com/index.php/Weekly-Beadditudes-with-Dara/make-your-own-sea-glass-and-other-tumbled-lovelies.html

LOL are you serious? Do you have any idea how long it would take to make sea glass like that? HAHAHA

erm excuse me this is my picture and I realise I am getting alot of interest via pinterest etc saying "how to make your own seaglass" well you've come to the wrong place in that case as this isn't hand-made it's "found from the sea" so please be respectful in your comments. And yeah i wouldn't bother trying to make it personally but not everyone has a beach that has seaglass! I've "heard" you can make it but it doesn't look easy!

lucky you! this is a lovely stack and would be a lovely print for my bathroom:)

Yes you can make it yourself. It's made in the ocean, beating against the bottom of the sea against the sand and rocks...tumbling. That's what gives it the softened edges. It
takes lots of time. A rock tumbler would work!!

love it but where do you find how to make it?

    15. firechicktick 5 months ago | reply

OMG it takes DECADES to make sea glass....lol...you cannot "make" sea glass! This is something I really hate about Pinterest. UGH. Please source back when you post someone else's photos on Pinterest!

      Lisa...sorry this happened to you.

Hi thanks for your concern. I realise people are coming here misguided from Pinterest. I agree people aren't linking correctly..

I don't mind people looking and admiring but I know they're probably disappointed this is not where you find out how to make it - this is REAL seaglass I found on the beach. If you look on youtube or google i'm sure it will tell you but it's probably not worth the effort and time. Just go on holiday to a beach and find it!! lol
I use Pinterest myself but don't know how to disable my photos from it, but I figure putting your photos on the web means they're out there for all to see, aslong as there are no copyright/stolen issues but unfortunately that happens too :/

Oh, hello! I clicked in from pinterest, and found a photo from a contact! :) That never happens!:) (bummer that someone has misguided people with your photo though...at least it sources back to your actual flickr though, instead of somewhere where someone had copied your photo)
It's a beautiful picture! I'm glad you added your description about this being real sea glass--you are very lucky! I clicked the pin thinking, "no way! your arm would fall off before you could shake plain glass into sea glass with a jar full of sand!" haha!
