If I get her from there, I'll try for SAL shipping as rumour has it this is more likely to pass through customs (goes to Royal Mail, rather than Parcel Force). We'll see, but she's a definite! Jealous of you lucky sods who've got her already - I would have had the money if I didn't need a bloody filling last week (and not been a vain snob and opted for NHS amalgam).

I only have three, so it's not too much money overall. TBH one white filling doesn't cost much more than one amalgam. You get up to three amalgam in one sitting for £43, whereas one white is £45-105 (dentist depending). I only needed one, and it wasn't big, so £60 for white or £43 for amalgam. Easy choice, but if I was having three biggies in one go, it could be a choice of £43 on NHS or £315 private, ouch! As an aside, the only NHS dentist in the area uses 4th year dental students to do all the NHS work. They are sloooowwww....!

Yikes! Dentistry is a nightmare. If only I hadn't eaten so many sweets as a teenager! I heard that white fillings don't last as long as amalgam. But amalgam might be bad for your health and they're ugly. I don't expect to need new fillings just maintenance on existing ones, I don't know if I'd fancy having old ones removed and replaced though.

The banding prices on the NHS is crazy. My BFF's boyf is a dentist and the reason white ones cost so much is that the materials cost a fair bit more, and they take longer to mold and set. You have to do it in layers and let each one dry. It only adds 10 minutes to an appointment, but a dentist earns the practice around £120 (plus) an hour... so that's why white is private, unless on your front teeth. My first two white fillings are nine years old now, and still in good condition (apparently!). I wouldn't want ones taking out and replacing either - too much pain and hassle. I'm proper lucky to have only three as I have such a sweet tooth too, and often go a couple of years without a trip to the dentist!
