Mum and I, c 1985

Mum and I, c 1985 by flissy666.
Guess who got their first ever scanner today? (Courtesy of expenses too!) Be prepared for photo scans by the dozen :)

This is my favourite photo of my mum and I. Look what a chunkster I was :)

How can this look so retro? I was closer to your Mum's age than yours in 85.....and it's clearly 7 million years ago!! (Goes in search of adult nappies and denture glue)

I think my mum looks the same age here as she does now (she's 53) - 80s fashions were so unflattering!!!

I think that grown-ups sort of went from teenagers to middle age overnight in the 80's...for the average person it really was the decade that fashion forgot. But you seemed to have escaped the awful pudding bowl kids haircut that I suffered in the 80's :)
You really look like your Mum now though, great pic.

Awww...80's fashion isn't that bad!! You got the breakdancing styles and the ultra cool disco era! I think you look smashing Fliss! Are the stripes a co-ordinated thing? I know taking a picture back then was the rage!! people actually co-ordinated what they wore...and made some really silly poses, at least my mum did...keke

Sarah, you are absolutely spot on. I see these photos of my mum in dark glittery jumpers with shoulder pads, and heavy overbearing makeup, and think she looks like Angie from 'Enders. Until I realise she's the same age as me in them! But, yes, I did escape the bowl cut. Probably as my hair was too fine to do anything with.

Louos, those fashions were great, but they didn't actually make it to suburban English housewives for some reason, lol! I don't think the stripes were intentionally coordinated, and I wish someone had told my mum that horizontal stripes did nothing for little chubsters like me!!!
