Thank you for your condolences Shell; it was indeed a sad moment ;)

Folks, it certainly was cold - the girls' little arms had plastic goosebumps all over!

Thanks Roz! Thanks Linda!

Don't worry - John in on the case with the card reader. (Me? I just take the pix, not worry about technical detail, lol!)

do you still have the cable that came with your camera? You should be able to plug it in directly. Great shots of them together.

Unfortunately it's the camera's internal card reader that's knackered. I can't complain too much as I picked it up from Barnardo's for £3 (Nikon Coolpix 5700!). There were actually some factory flaws which were fixed for free, but I think the previous owner dropped it hard on the reader output, judging by its casing...

I think so! It's on my 'to do' list; I want a Nikon D40 :) (or higher if funds allow). My current one will live over the summer when the light's better for now though.

I recommend the D40 ... I have a D80 and my father has a D300 and I honestly feel I wish I had saved the money and bought the D40. Mostly because I think "in between" cameras are not so great. If I had saved a few hundred on the D40 I would not feel so bad in a couple of years if I want to step up to a full frame camera.
