730/730: And so I turned the key leftish and a bit right...

Left seemed very hard and right, well... right just felt right. So I turned it left with a bit more force, felt a little woozy and then... well... then it all just went blank.

I briefly recall hearing some kind of flaps disengaging and the sound of parsnips... but then... nothing.

I could no longer feel or move.

After seemingly ages, a squeaky little voice interrupted the nothingness, and this is what he had to say…

Crikey.

2 years! 2 bloomin’ years!! A photo every single day. Never missed one, always a photo, come rain or shine, life or no life.

Sadly, it’s time to end. If you’ve been following me for any length of time you’ll know that it’s been getting harder and harder. I don’t want to stop enjoying photography and the impact that taking 2 to 3 hours out of your day can have can’t be underestimated. Photography isn’t my day job.

I spend all this time taking photos and making pictures, that I get no time for other things in my life. I’d like to try and make something of them, write a book, all sorts of things, but really, the balance has all been wrong.

It doesn’t help matters that I’ve just bought a house that needs a lot of work doing to it, and that I fear, will take all the time I’ve previously allocated to photography.

What’s next? I’ll still take photos and I’ll still post here, but just not on a schedule. I won’t commit to a 52 week project or anything similar, just because I want the freedom to create when I want to create. That said, I’m pretty sure I’ll do another 365 at some point, but I just need a break for now.

I need to say thank you to a few people. Firstly, gosh, the support you guys have given me here on Flickr is outstanding. For all the comments and faves I thank you very much – it’s a real motivator when you’re feeling pretty down with your stuff. Thank you.

To my friends and family, thank you again. I know I’ve been a complete pain sometimes when I’ve let my silly project get in the way. Thank you.

And finally, and most importantly – to my lovely Marine (aka Miss Embe). She’s taken the brunt of my mood swings when things aren’t going well, and has always believed in me beyond all others. Thank you so much.

And of this photo… well… you know what… I really hate to be ending on this one. Up until this morning I had no idea what I would do for a final shot, and well, this isn’t quite what I had in my head. All the more motivation to get better I suppose! 

So yup.

That’s it for the daily photos!

And finally… a very happy New Year to all of you. You rock!

Dom

Yup.

729/730: And as I inserted the key... it felt like it could turn either way...

I don't know why I felt the key should be plunged into the side of my brain, but after a tricky bit where I had to force it through my skull, it just kinda felt right. Familiar even. Almost like it had been there two years before.

It was snug, but also a little squishy, and there was a definite sense that, should I so desire, I could twist it left or right.

Hmmm… what to do?

Should I turn it?

Left or right?

Any clues?

Yup.

728/730: And then I found a key...

728/730: And then I found a key...

Such a strange key… a key like no other I’d seen before.

I don’t even recall picking it up, but there it was in my hand… making that noise you get when you scratch your nails down a blackboard… only more like lemons.

And all I could think of was how strange it was that it had my name on it… how very strange indeed…

But I mustn’t dally… for the brain-scrubbing contamination police were close behind me and I couldn’t risk them catching me… again.

Nope.

Yup.

Hehe… I brought my big lights to France with me! Ryanair didn’t manage to lose or break them… Woot! Sadly though... no room for clothes... :-(

727/730: The brain-scrubbing contamination police

727/730: The brain-scrubbing contamination police

I believe my recent infection might have accidentally triggered the release of the brain-scrubbing contamination police from sector G6…

Fear them… I hope they don’t get to me…

I hope…

Crikey…

Yup.
