Southern Spot...

Southern Spot...

Blog I

This is the Betsy Ross on Ocean Drive in South beach Miami. It was taken whilst on holiday with my wife and we wanted to see the bright lights of South Beach. The whole street is lit up with different hotels and cafes its quite a sight to see. It makes me think of the bright lights of Vegas. For us it was a bit too busy for us there though so we were glad that we stayed up on North Beach where it is a little less crazy.

I also took a picture of the Colony Hotel when we were walking around this part of town. Below is that shot.

Due East...

Due East...

Blog I

When I was exploring the East of London I decided to try and find a place to shoot Canary Wharf from. So after a long walk from Canada Water I came to this location which is right by the water front it look me about a 20 minute hike and I got there I wasn't let down by the view.

I waited for the light to fall and the sky to become blue so that i could get a nice colourful evening shot. It was hard to keep the tripod steady as there was a lot of wind and some of the exposures were blurred. I hate it when its windy.

Xmas in the Med...

Xmas in the Med...

Blog I

The massive Christmas tree that is outside the Mediterranean hotel in Cyprus is set up each year and towers over the entrance to the hotel. This was taken one evening as we were going back to the hotel after a nice day with my partners family.

I like the blue of the lights and how they go with the deep purple of the hotel. I wonder how many people were needed to life it into place. It makes me want to go back to NY and see the tree outside the rockafella building.

The Naive…

The Naive…

Blog I

The Naive in Ely Cathedral is a hand painted masterpiece. Work started on the painting in 1858 and was completed in 1865. The painting of the ceiling was interrupted half-way due to the sudden death of the artist. it was taken up by another artist after the sudden death. The second artist went on to paint the Octagon and the Transepts.

I love to shoot in old Cathedrals like this as I think that it it really suits HDR and you can really see all of the textures that are in the building work.

If you like this picture you can look at my set called Cathedral's for more.

Also this shot looks better large so to view it like it should be viewed press L

Lead Me To The Hall...

Lead Me To The Hall...

Blog I

This was taken from outside the Albert Hall just before the sun had fallen below the horizon. It was nice as it was not to busy at this time so I could take my time to get my shots without it being busy which is what I like. If you look at the side of the Alert hall you can see the light from the sun hitting it. The sky has also gone white to blue which I think is quite cool.

I set up to take this shot from a low down perspective and I did my usual five exposures to get all of the light levels in the scene.

In this shot the part that stands out to me is the fence which leads to the hall. I like how it makes your eye move up towards the hall. If you can include something which leads the eye to the object that you what to show off try and include it as it will make your images more interesting.
