Indian Pacific at Petersham
NR25 leads a sister Unit in matching Livery as it hauls the Indian Pacific through the Inner West on the Down Local during a Weekend Shutdown.
All trains during this particular weekend shutdown were routed only through both Up and Down Local lines. With South and Inner West line trains not stopping along their normal stations between Burwood and the Redfern (hence forth the trackwork buses between Central and Stathfield), headways were close to around 2 mins between each train, with most Cityrail lines only being conveyed on two running lines between these two points. This also saw Intercity and Countrylink Trains as well as the Indian Pacific on this particular Saturday use the local lines to get to town, as trackwork was being undertaken on the Main and Suburban lines between Strathfield and the City.

Nothing lies, Rusty Rails
During the Weekend Shutdown, A C set Suburban Service runs along the Inner West over the Lewisham Viaduct towards Summer Hill. The former Metropolitan Goods line to Rozelle (and once apon a time to Darling Harbour) has since been Booked out in December 2008 and has since decayed away with the rails rusting over and weeds and plants growing over the tracks. Birds have since stopped pilling up on the overhead wires knowing that there isn't any grain to look for.
Talk about extending the Metro Light Rail from Lilyfield to Dulwich Hill has come up in the community, but other ideas has reason for this line to not close down completely(e.g. Citywest Metro Project, M4 East Construction etc).
