Information from Shane: "4-82523 - falls within the range defined for North American AT-6F-NT Texan. Sure looks like a Texan to me."
[Thank you Shane]

I know that he was at Randolf Field at some point because thre are eleven color kodachrome transparencies in a box addressed to him there. If you think this was taken in Texas, it may well have been. Whenever I finally am able to figure out when he was in Texas, we will have a date for this photo.

This photo was not taken in Texas... it was most likely taken at Nichols Field in the Philippines. I think Shane's mention of 'Texan' was in reference to the AT-6's nickname... it was known as the 'Texan'.

This ship, AT-6F 44-82523, was involved in a midair collision with another AT-6F (serial number 44-82291) on October 10th, 1947, and its pilot, Thurman E. Day, did not survive. Apparently the pilot of the other aircraft, George T. Hollis, was able to either bail out or land safely, as the entries on THIS page indicate that only Day was killed.

As I mentioned in the comments for that T-6 crash photo, the tail marking, 'circle E', was that of the 504th Bombardment Group. It's possible that, like that other T-6, this ship was also assigned to the 77th Air Service Group but attached to the 504th BG.
