Thanks for posting this, Dave.
To me this photo beautifully and poignantly captures the sadness of the disintegration of the many cities in the northeastern U.S. that were once powered by manufacturing, and now are slowly dying.
I imagine, too, a group of people who once attended this church and formed part of a lively and loving congregation--to them, the end of that community is also "the end of [a] world."

I remember when this church was in operation, I went to k-1st grade there, then the school closed. The church was beautiful, the processions and events that went on, words could not explain. I am currently in the military, and it is unfortunate what childhood memories that I had, and the love for that parrish the community had has now gone. I almost cried looking at these pictures. You could not imagine the beauty of this church. I was also an altar server, I remember a K of C ceremony that went on, it was one of the last events in the church, and the head of the diocese was there, so beautiful. The pictures that really got me other than the inside photos were the ones with spray paint on the outside. Really, how are these children raised now, that they would desicrate a church. I wish there were more parishoners my old neighborhood. I grew up about 1 block from the church and remember my father pulling me on a sled to go to sunday mass through the snowy months. One day, when I get back I hope there is a way I can contribute to the fillmore, broadway area to make it what it was.
