heh, we had racoons in our garbage all the time growing up (uh, and bears, too). we made sport out of throwing ice cubes at them. not that it really detered them.

these little beasts were eating some chicken that workers had carelessly left in the yard....they were not scared off by flashlights or camera flashes, strangely however, if i repeated the word "chicken" a few times they would scamper off....

Hey Courtney! I was telling Sam the exact same thing last night. It would be a lot easier to hate them if they weren't so adorable.

i suspect that they would look good as a hat, courtney!!!

yes, occipital brooklyn is the new ohio and iceland is the new brooklyn.

yes, very annoying, fat and full of trash with no fear of humans. one times they broke into the apartment and ate an avocado in the middle of the kitchen.

i am no fan of the raccoon party and yes, it was running on the goth yesterday....got some pretty good comments too....

they do tend to travel in threes eh? I don't mind them so much but they do tend to eat my bird seed. Either them or the possums.

possums? yikes....there were actually five of these little guys that night, the other two were eating some trash while these ones hung out on the fence. they have gotten really fearless as we saw them come into and around the yard both nights when we were hanging out back there this weekend

I like the critters but raccoon rabies is a real problem these days.

Oh, and great photos, as always. =]

haha thanks - all of these shots were actually taken from inside, so there was no real chance of getting bitten. the real problem is when they come sniffing around when we're actually outside in the yard -- usually i just lob a few rocks their way and they take off

I came home one day and one was sitting on top of my fridge having come in off the fireescape and et all the cat food. (12th St.) The cats sure were looking at me funny when I walked into the kitchen....
