Read the narration at the foot of the picture.

A rare picture of Mahatma Gandhi facing his assassin with gun.
It was hanging in a Bombay tailor shop for over 60 years and came to the light now.

The words are in Marathi, translated below:

Last moments of the Father of the Nations
Memories preserved for 37 years by a tailor
---------
(Narration)
This is a rare picture of the moment when 37 years ago Nathuram Godse shot and assasinated the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. This picture
was then published in an English newspaper. Mr.Jabbar Khan, owner of Noble Tailors, Dadiseth Road, Girgaum Chowpati, Mumbai had framed and kept the picture in his shop to preserve memories of that historic moment. Our correspondent Ghanshyam Bhadekar made Herculean efforts to obtain a copy of the picture. 70 year old Jabbar Khan is a famous tailor of the olden days. He has been awarded Certificates of Commendation by former Governors Shriprakash, Sadiq Khan, Abdul Latif, Konda Madhav Reddy as well as former CM Antuley.

My Poem

If the Father of the Nation
had not died by the bullet
of Nathuram Godse
he would have
died far more
tragically
by the way
with the corruption
with the rape
of the nation
in every way
the freedom struggle
mocked by politics
of convenience
as farcical play
sadly
the healing touch
has gone away
the CWG
is more important
our apathy on the
soul of humanity
who in Ladakh Leh
were washed away
bullets as fodder
for kashmiris
killed in gun battles
passed away
if mahatma gandhi
was alive he
would have
hung his head
with shame
ahinsa
non violence
turned around
deathly decay
godhra shabuddin
in the land
where he stayed
memories more
painful than
the partition
what more
do i say
hey ram
a curtain call
within a prayer

PS
: Rare of the rarest pictures of Bapu facing Nahuram Godse during the last few seconds of his life.Read the narration at the foot of the picture

Not quite true. This is a still from a movie – Nine Hours to Rama, made in 1963 by a British producer – Mark Robsom. Godse was played by a German/American actor – Horst Bucholz. The movies was banned in India – as most of these things are!!!

We all like beauty in one form or the other and beauty is different things to different people , and my dear friend Eric Parker graphic designer from Toronto shoots wild beauty , wild beauty that aesthetically touches the core of humanity.

I met Eric several years back ,we met at Flickr and it is my bad luck I did not meet him in Mumbai he had shot Chor Bazar that was once my Friday hideout.

He became a fan of my Sufi pictures and I became a fan of his street lore , Eric is a product of Adab and Tehzeeb and connected to a lot of old musical gharanas in Kolkatta.

Erics photostream at Flickr is more vibrant soul pulsating than mine, he shoots emotions moments that live on and on and on..he shoots various genre , being erudite , worldly and street saintly too.

Because he looks a bit like my dear friend Benn Bell , our friendship is more evocative than ever.

I am looking forward to his trip to Mumbai and this is my humble tribute to a prolific street chronicler and street poet.

He is the best of the best.. my dear friend Eric Parker .

My new Poem inspired by Paula

eric is a loner
a poet a stag
his tail seldom wags
he shoots beauty
hidden beneath
the wrinkles
of a hag
to all my friends
that eric is my friend
i brag
this poem
in all it humility
a tribute
to a great

I am a great fan of Eric Parker street photography , and I requested Eric If I could blog his image , he glad fully consented , Eric shoots the Gay Parade Dyke March in Toronto Canada , we have been great Flickr friends since a very long time ..Eric speaks Urdu , is an expert in classical Indian Music and loves India ..

You should visit his stream it is not titillation but a moment in time , a women's angst , her anatomy exposed as fulsome poetry.

I shoot the Gay Pride In Mumbai and I shoot it to bring you a March as an expression of Freedom of Thought beyond Gender orientation, I know whatever a persons sexuality it is secondary to his nature his complete humanity..

I dont abide by certain rules that are nothing but pretext and bigotry..I dont believe in Religion that condones murder in the Name of God or ethnic cleansing , I dont believe in an Islam that shuts its eyes when one Muslim kills another Muslim lustfully too take a short cut to heaven to bed his choice of 72 nubile virgins..I d rather fuck a whore..

update

I did not shoot the Gay Pride this year as there are bigots among the gay community too call it reverse racism..
