Dell To Investigate Laptop Explosion![]() Computer maker Dell says it will investigate reports that one of its laptops caught fire and exploded at a conference in Japan. According to a report on UK-based website The Inquirer the laptop suddenly burst into flames and produced several explosions for more than five minutes. A company spokesperson wouldn't speculate on the cause of the fire but says safety and quality is very important to Dell and, regardless of the circumstances, will be "looking into it".
Last December Dell announced a recall of 22,000 notebook batteries because of overheating and potential fire risk issues. These batteries were manufactured in Japan and China and were sold during October 2005. CommentsA.Schwenke

I own a Dell laptop. And the scary part is that once while charging my batter became hot. Not the average temperature but hot. So hot I could barely hold it. So I put it in my freezer and about an hour later it was still about room temp.
