K.O.L.O live! |
March 2004 : John Lennon had already
been dead for 24 years, Radiohead had
completed its sixth album and not a
single Fender Rhodes piano had been made
for 30 years when Eric Kolo met Stephan
Guex in Geneva.
The first chords of the still-to-come
band K.O.L.O, were born from their acute
obsession for music. Eric Kolo would
write the lyrics and sing with his
caressing low voice.
He and Stephan Guex, would weave a
subtle universe tinted with melancholy
and illuminated by the purity and the
clarity of the melodies. Their
compositions flow between light pop,
nonchalant folk and explosive
rock’n’roll, showing at times an
influence of artists and band such as
Thom Yorke, Elbow or Damien Rice.
Eric Kolo began to try out their music
in the bars of New York, his second
home. Then, in 2005 he decided to set
himself up in Geneva and together with
Stephan assembled their group K.O.L.O:
Laurent Nicolas on drums, Mathieu
Karcher on guitar and Blaise Pitteloud
on bass, who joined the original duo.
After a serie of concerts ( La
Maroquinerie, Paris, France, The Cully
Jazz Festival, Switzerland, le Paléo
Festival, Switzerland, Montreux Jazz
Festival, Switzerland..), K.O.L.O has
released his first album "Songs for
a sleepwalker", that has been mixed
by Laurent Nicolas and Stéphane Guex and
mastered at the Bagdad Studio by Daniel
Laurent.
