I found it really hard to read, not so much because of the violence (which was rather strong), but more because of the lengthy and intricate descriptions of peoples' attire and things like that. I realise that it was all necessary to support (and show) Patrick's character, but found myself skimming those sections.

It was quite a while ago I read it; I'm not sure how I feel about it anymore. I remember having the feeling that I should read it all the way through to the end, rather than having a strong desire to.

I'm quite tempted to read it again (if I get the time) as I've read a lot more and developed more experience of novels since then; something which was lacking first time around.

I really want to reread that book as well, I was turned off by the violence the first time but I'd love to read it after watching Ichi the Killer, the most violent film I've ever seen and see how it stacks up now.

I've read some of the same books you have. In my opinion, the best is 1984 and the worst is the one from Rowling.

Anyway, interesting pic and good idea with the notes.
