book with wings

    Newer Older

anselm kiefer's "book with wings." a ridiculously cool sculpture at the museum of modern art of fort worth. the book of knowledge has wings 13 feet wide which appear poised for flight. but being made of lead, with wings of tin, this knowledge can never take flight. kiefer is a german artist born in 1945, and this piece seems to explore his struggle with the horror over his country's nazi heritage and the jewish holocaust.

yes, wendy does deserve credit here. not only did she finally move out of the way so i could see the sculpture, she also helped me decide on the processing.

thanks for all your kind comments, everyone.
