~ Vanessa Bell, 30 May 1879 - 7 April 1961, at Asheham House, her sister,
Virginia Woolf's house in Sussex. She was the daughter of Sir Leslie Stephen
and Julia Prinsep Jackson Duckworth Stephen, and sister to Virginia, Thoby
and Adrian. Vanessa married Clive Bell in 1907, a few months after brother
Thoby's death. She had two sons, Julian and Quentin with Clive Bell, and a
daughter, Angelica, with the artist Duncan Grant.
Her country home in Sussex, Charleston Farmouse, she set up with Duncan
Grant was an important home and meeting place for the Bloomsbury Group
outside London, and is now the only fully restored house in the world that is
entirely decorated with art works by the resident artists.
