Disturbing and amazing at same time. I'm unhappy with the violence and repression, but very happy and pleased to see an islamic country asking and fighting for democracy by your own hands.

This picture will be forever in my mind as an exemple of people manifestation.

Better days are coming.

Regards and keep fighting for freedom.

Amr Malik, here's a link to Google maps with the location:

maps.google.com/maps?g=esfahan,+iran&ie=U TF8&ll=3...

The public square is called Naghsh-i-Jahan
It's the 2nd largest public square in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

witness the awsome power of people in solidarity. Ahmadinejad is a power mad dictator who not only succeeded in ailienating himself from the rest of the world but from his own people. what now he's killing his own countrymen. the people have spoken, they want a new leader, they are the voice of Iran. if anyone is still considering a recount take a look over Naghsh-i-Jahan square and start counting!

I am constantly amazed by the sheer scale of discontent in Iran at the moment. I hope you can all keep going until justice is done. Thank you for this awesome picture. I know how huge this square is and there isn't a space to be seen. Brilliant!!

233 years ago, my ancestors fought for their rights against Great Britain, and as a result, I am able to sit here today without fear of what I post on the Internet. I am able to do and say as I please, and i can (and do) thank my family who came before me for this great gift they sacrificed in order to give to me, my children and those who will come after me.

233 years from now, will your ancestors in Iran look back on this week and thank you, long gone from the world, for the rights they will enjoy, or will they wish you had persevered?

Please stay the course there in your country. Make the tyrants pay for what they have done to your nation. Take back your country and grant equality to your people and join the rest of the world in Democracy.

I'm hoping for great things for all of you. Know that America supports you and wishes you well.

God bless you all.

Nicely put Jacktimus! I think these comments only go to demonstrate how adversity can bring hearts and minds together. Different cultures, different creeds but one purpose, freedom. Inshallah it will come to you all.

Things happen so much faster these days, that I'm betting it wont take 233 years. Maybe 23. Maybe even 2.3. I know 2 weeks ago it was unthinkable that people would be openly shouting "death to khamenei" and "death to the dictator". things change rapidly in the year 2009.
