Experimental Market Bag![]() ![]() This bag measures about 22" around by 11-1/2" tall. It was made from Knit One Crochet Too 2nd Time Cotton(/Acrylic) and Rowan 100% 4-ply cotton. The pattern is the Sunshine String Bag by Elizabeth Moreno.
I am so pleased with how this turned out. I call it the “experimental” bag because I was so fed up with frogging over and over again a different pattern I was trying to do, that I switched to the Sunshine String Bag pattern and realized immediately that the yarn I had wasn’t going to get close to gauge. So I just grabbed my 8 and 10.5 needles and started following the pattern to see how it would turn out. Knowing I wasn’t going to knit the handles, I cast on 90, added a few more rows of garter stitch to the top, and reversed the instructions to knit the rows instead of purl them (because I’m not very consistent when I purl). The result is about 22” around and 11-1/2” tall. Will actually be a great knitting project bag!! My dilema now is deciding whether or not to bring this smaller bag to the Double Ewe Yarn Shop (what fits in the bag gets 20% off!) so as to at least give the impression that I’m curbing my yarn purchasing habit, or go back to the other pattern and make a bigger one at gauge (now that I know what I was doing wrong). Since you really can’t ever have too many bags…!! :) Would you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |
