it's amusing that I work so hard to take creative, even may I say artistic, photographs, and the ones that get the most views are one-shot phonecam shots of funny signs.

I wish I saw as many things like that worth photographing, cameraphone or no: it's all about your eye and what it sees than about the camera you have at hand. Go with what works.

mountainwave, it was in Seattle, but it was internal to the company where I work. There are a few of them printed out on regular paper, so either one of my co-workers designed it themselves, or else they got it off the web somewhere.
