Lichgate Oak

This is a live oak here in Tallahassee that is something of an icon for those in the know. I just discovered it recently. As you can see, a panorama is necessary to get the required sharpness using my Pentax 50mm. This image was put together from five separate exposures. I didn't have my pan head with me, so it was handheld. I also don't have the requisite software, so I had to do a bit of work with it in Photoshop 7. The first shot in the comment section is cropped in a little to show more detail. The second shot was taken with my Tamron 18-200. You can see the difference in sharpness. One thing I've noticed with the Tamron also is that the focus seems to drop off at the edges at 18mm.
