I admire his ingenuity an resourcefulness. There's was another article in digg.com that highlighted how one African (Kenyan maybe) guy was powering his families house with renewable power on the cheap. He even built his own generator with battery storage! He was very ingenious!

I admire the guys desire to be informed and entertained and finding a way to power the device using lead acid battery.
Seems like the world we live in could learn to do more with less.
