My Dad's war stories were things that I
treasure and miss. In my unfinished research,
Wendover,Halesworth some of his old pictures
and stories like yours are also treasures for
me. Thank you so much for sharing.
He was an instrument man on B-24's and most
probably served in the 489th BG. He wasn't
much for 'gathering',but he would have had a
blast at some of those reunions. He was prone
to fist fights and riding a bike why in
England. Not sure why that sticks in my mind.
I do have a picture of him standing with all
the ground crew on the wings of a B-24.He may
have known Paul or Carroll and maybe their
plane was the one he made an extra panel of
instruments for the bombardier so he wouldn't
have to strain his neck to look up at the
pilot's set. I remember this story because he
and another instrument man lost their leave
the last weekend in Wendover to do all the
other planes in the squadron before leaving
for England! for my Dad/Sgt. Bennie
Johnson,Texarkana,Arkansas.
