"Hakusan tei", a lovely Showa-style little tea and souvenir shop has been given a warm welcome to worshippers to the local Hakusan Jinja shrine for almost half century. The local authorities, in a move to boost tourism, have decided to heavily promote turism to the local temple and, as part of this, have planned that next year the shop to be demolished to make space for a parking lot and a character-less modern building with restaurant and souvenir shops.
