Best way of territorialize via hipsteric gentrification. Pink boots, once more, repeated, regurgitated, and revisited

Hanging sneakers form a pole or wire it is said to mean dealer in the area, I guess is some type of anthropological territory demarcation among groups or gangs.

Technically speaking this 'sneakers' are not such, if you look closer they are more "stylish boots'. My interpretation of this change or displacement is due to the fact that Williamsburg is a former industrial district which is in the process of a rapid gentrifcation. Some urban tribe defined as 'hipsters' took over this 'hood. Hence instead of the usual sneakers they hang fashion boots. I feel this is an interesting twist to this tradition.

the urban legend that goes with the shoes is that originally swinging them over wires was for drug deals. the drugs were placed in the shoes for someone to come pick them up at a later time... anyone know more of this?

Apprently, it is an international symbol. Someone posted a similar thing on one of my photos. But I heard it was just to designate a meeting spot. Actually putting the drugs in and getting them out of the shoes seems like a lot of effort.
